Read deposit and cancellation terms before a table opens.

A desirable reservation can carry a real financial commitment. Before using an alert or a booking attempt, identify the venue policy you would be willing to accept for every table in your selected window.

The practical rule

Do not authorize a fast booking for a time you might decline after seeing the price, cancellation deadline, prepaid amount, or no-show policy. Check the reservation page at the source before you commit.

Card hold, cancellation fee, deposit, or prepaid reservation?

Term you may seeWhat to confirm before booking
Payment card requiredWhether the card is held only for policy enforcement or a charge is due immediately.
Cancellation feeThe deadline, per-person or per-reservation amount, and whether changing the party size affects it.
DepositWhether it is refundable, credited toward the bill, or forfeited after the deadline.
Prepaid experienceThe full amount due now and the restaurant's rules for cancellation, transfer, or refund.

Where the controlling terms appear

For a Resy reservation, the restaurant's payment and cancellation requirements are presented on its reservation page before booking and in the confirmation notice. The restaurant's policy governs its charges and deadlines, and terms may vary by date or experience.

A decision checklist for a fast-moving opening

  1. Choose only dates and seating times you can attend.
  2. Open the official listing and review the policy for the relevant reservation type.
  3. Record the latest cancellation time and the maximum charge or prepayment you accept.
  4. Use a native alert when you still need to decide; use a scoped booking attempt only after the decision is made.
  5. After confirmation, keep the confirmation notice and cancel through the official path before the venue deadline if plans change.

How Beeline treats charge authorization

Beeline asks you to authorize venue-required deposits or charges for each bee. Without that authorization, it does not launch an automatic booking bee. Authorization does not change a restaurant's policy, make a reservation refundable, or guarantee a table.

Sources and scope: Resy's Terms of Service, effective June 9, 2025 and reviewed May 31, 2026, state that payment requirements and restaurant cancellation policies are displayed before booking and in confirmation notices. This guide is informational, and Beeline is independent from and not endorsed by Resy.
